Finally! It’s here—the day I thought might never come, but I’m so thrilled to say that Signs & Stories is officially live! 🎉
This shop is a dream come true, bringing together my love for books, ASL, and the Deaf community in a creative, meaningful way. Whether you're a lover of literature, an advocate for Deaf culture, or simply someone who appreciates unique and personal designs, I hope you'll find something that speaks to you.
What’s Inside the Signs & Stories Shop?
At Signs & Stories, there's a collection of items that celebrate the beauty of American Sign Language (ASL) and the love of books. Designs will combine the two. There will be designs in the future that combine my work as an author with illustrations, phrases, and characters from my work-in-progess anthology Deaf Tales—a series of fractured fairy tales that feature Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing characters in magical, reimagined stories.
You’ll also find phrases and designs from the DEAFinitely Readers Book Club that I host and designs from collaborators like my book club co-host Desiree from A DEAFinitely Novel Life.
The shop features a variety of products—think clothing, bags, journals, stickers and more—each with ASL hand shapes, Deaf culture representations, and bookish themes. These designs are perfect for anyone who’s passionate about ASL, loves books, or wants to celebrate the Deaf community in style.
Collaborators Who Make This Shop Special
One of the best parts about being able to share my love of writing and drawing and crafting. Many of the designs you’ll see in the shop include ASL hand shapes that represent important themes and characters in my stories - or in my life. Not only that, I am able to keep a precious friendship alive by cross-stitching - which was one of my best friend's favorite hobbies.
But it doesn’t stop there - my amazing collaborator, Desiree from A DEAFinitely Novel Life, brings her own flair to the shop. Desiree’s designs focus on beautiful representations of Deaf culture and unique phrases that resonate deeply with the Deaf community.
I also hope to expand the collection in the future with more phrases and illustrations. My ultimate goal is to offer copies of my books for purchase in the shop as well, so stay tuned for that exciting development!
Limited Edition Designs & Special Releases
What’s even more exciting? Some of the designs in the shop will be limited edition—especially around holidays. Imagine a spooky ghost design for Halloween, or a cozy, festive Christmas illustration to ring in the holiday season. These designs will only be available for a limited time, so if you see something you love, grab it while you can!
And right now... we do have two Halloween designs since we didn't quite get the shop up in time for Halloween. I plan on using this bag all year - not just in October!
Of course, if a design or product isn’t quite as popular as we hoped, it might be removed to make space for fresh ideas and designs. But don’t worry—some designs will be staples in the shop, staying available year-round for those who want to represent their love of Deaf culture, ASL, and books.
What’s Next for the Shop?
I’m excited to keep adding new designs, products, and collaborations to the shop. I’m always working on fresh ideas, from bookish inspired designs to fun, interactive pieces that highlight the beauty of ASL. The future is bright for this little corner of creativity, and I’m grateful to everyone who’s joined the journey so far.
