New Year, New Resolutions

Another year has ended and a new one begun. I really don’t like “new year resolutions” because honestly, I rarely complete them. I always end up failing even though I sincerely try to keep them.

Take last year for example. I said I would to write daily (which I did… until February), publish a book (didn’t happen), finish editing The Lost Daughter (not even close), run a 5K (didn’t even finish training), and clean a little in the house every day (that one came the closest to being completed, but still, didn’t happen). Granted, a big thing happened – I grew a human. Becoming a mum meant that things got pushed to the wayside (hence, not finishing training or running the 5K).

But as always, I do want to make resolutions. If only to keep myself somewhat accountable – to have them written down somewhere so I have to see them and hopefully, work on them. And can you guess them? Since things were halted last year due to the big life event, maybe they can be completed this year.

Resolutions for 2019:

Writing Goals:

  • Write (something) daily – whether this is a blog post, a short story, or even editing, work on writing something everyday. I told myself I was writing today, and hey, look, I am.

  • Add to and edit The Lost Daughter

  • Finish Deaf Tales (Signed Stories)

  • Publish a novel – this is my top goal. All I want is to have others read my works. So even if I don’t get a “big 5” publisher, then I will self-publish on Amazon. And have a book on Swoon Reads. The money would be nice, but really, I write for my stories to be read. Not just for me to read them anymore (story for another day).

Physical Goals:

  • Be active for 30 minutes at least 3 times a week (preferably every day

  • Complete a 5K (Disney Princess 5K is one I’m doing in February. Send help now!)

  • Lose extra baby weight.

Other Goals:

  • Be a better mum (patience, understanding, not on my phone as often)

  • Clean for 10 minutes at least every day (could be laundry, or picking up downstairs, dishwasher. Something.)

  • Eat healthier overall (we are trying to do Whole30 dinner meals)

These are my 10 goals. What are yours?

Happy New Year!
