Hello, New Year!

Updated: Jan 2, 2021

Once again, a new year has come and as usual, I'll be listing the things I'd like to accomplish this year. I do like to look back and see how I can with accomplishing last year's goals, but, apparently I had an inkling that last year wasn't going to go as planned because I did not create any. Foreshadowing, anyone?

But, I would like to look remember what I did accomplish this past year.

Remembering 2020:

  • Completed writing and began editing The Lost Daughter

  • Completed writing and began editing Deaf Tales

  • Launched my new website

  • Began working on a blog with a deaf friend of mine (coming soon, I hope!)

  • Began a new story, The Gift

  • Completed my NaNoWrimo goal

  • Began learning Procreate to make some drawings of my characters and stories for better visualization and for the blog

Plus, I got some fun toys for writing: an AlphaSmart Neo2 and a Remington Streamliner travel typewriter from the 1960s. I loved using the AlphaSmart Neo2 during NaNo - it really helped me concentrate on simply writing instead of being distracted by social media or researching and falling down rabbit holes. I'll keep you updated on whether I continue to enjoy it and how the typewriter works.

Not only did I accomplish some goals of mine with writing, but I do feel like I grew and discovered more of who I am as a person. There were definitely struggles in 2020 - not just with the pandemic but more personal. I did a post in October, you can find it HERE.

So, what are my goals for 2021? I'm going to break them down into more obtainable goals - or reasonable timeframes for the goals instead of an abstract time. In March, I'll see where I am on the goals - and set the next three months.

Goal for March:

  • Finish editing Deaf Tales

  • Begin researching and finding a publisher for Deaf Tales

  • Work on editing The Lost Daughter

  • Write 3 chapters on The Gift

Annual Goals:

  • Work on writing (or editing) daily. It can be a blog post, as short story, a chapter - or editing any of the above. I want to work on writings everyday.

  • Read more books

  • Work on Procreate and my drawings

  • Publish Deaf Tales - whether through a publisher or self-publishing (making roads by end of year)

  • Have more patience with my toddler and to put my phone away after work until his bedtime daily

  • Be active for 30 minutes at least 5 times a week.

  • Clean for 20 minutes at least every day

  • Healthier eating Sunday through Friday (aka no chips and snacks of that sort)

Do you have any goals? What are they?

May your year be filled with lots of adventures that take you everywhere - even if it's only through stories you read.

Keep your mind open to all the possibilities.
